The Board is co-ordinating a regular temperature take of the local economy through its interactive employer snapshot which involves local employers contributing their views on the local economy and its impact on employment and skills. The first results are now out and identify a number of insights including:

• Substantial disagreement with the statement that the 'recession is over'
• A relatively static position in respect of jobs
• Real concern about the impact of looming public sector cuts
• Limited understanding of the funding / support available to employers for employment and skills.
