The Board Meeting held in May focused upon establishing the mission for the Board.

This meeting focused almost entirely upon the Board establishing an outline mission - 'putting local talent at the heart of economic ambition' and identifying, from a free-ranging discussion, its priorities:

Making sure our employers have a voice

Making sure our future workforce has the opportunity to fulfil their potential

Making sure our current workforce has the skills that employers need, now and in the future

The Board also identified 'how' it would tackle these priorities:

By securing the best intelligence on our local economy

By influencing and lobbying to win funding and investment

By targeting our actions.

It was agreed that a short one-page summary of this would be produced and form an initial framework to inform Board development.
