The Stig presents 2010 Awards

The Stig of Top Gear fame presented the Award Winners with their trophies at an exciting ceremony at The Lawns in Lincoln on Thursday 25th March 2010.  Award winners included Apprentices, Employers, E2E Learners and Schools.

For the first time in the history of the Awards, we celebrated the achievements of some of our past Apprentices.

Stephen Locke

Stephen is now 24, and has his own plumbing and heating business based in Boston. Stephen did his apprenticeship from 2002 to 2005, and says learning his trade gave him many opportunities he would not otherwise have had. He has been very successful, and now owns his own home and business. And, wonderfully, Stephen now has his own apprentice.

Penny Shaw

Penny completed her apprenticeship in 2006 and since then has flourished as a farm manager. Still only 22, Penny, of Covenham, had no GCSEs but was determined to make the most of being an apprentice. Her ambition to one day take over the running of her father’s farm came true, sadly sooner than she wanted when her father died. Penny says if it had not been for the skills and confidence she gained from the apprenticeship, she could not have taken on the challenge and the farm would have had to be sold. But she did and the business is thriving.

Andrew White

Andrew completed his Advanced Apprenticeship in 2002, studying at Lincoln College and working at the bearings engineering company NMB-Minebea UK. He is still at the business, and is now a department manager and, significantly, the apprentice co-coordinator for the company’s 10 apprentices. Andrew is 27 and is directly responsible for no less than 92 employees and has been overseas to work in France, Germany, Japan and America
